The first concrete initiative brought to life through Stone Summit has been a series of live events, broadcasted through the project’s channel on youtube. The online events bring together renowned professionals from relevant companies, in Brazil and abroad, to share their practical day-to-day experience in the sector. Each episode seeks to bring different subjects to the table, discussing the challenges and opportunities that arose in this pandemic period, in addition to what the companies envision for the future.

Episode 1

The impact of Covid-19 on the natural stone market

Episode 1 of Stone Summit invited managers from large industries to talk about the process of adapting companies to the new reality imposed by this global crisis. In addition to sharing their experiences and learnings during the first months of the pandemic, the guests were able to comment on relevant industry data – on exports, product mix, digital sales and other several very relevant guidelines, not only in this pandemic moment, but for the long run performance of industries and all stakeholders as well.

Episode 2

The brazilian natural stone sector and the american market

Given the relevance of this market for the stone industry in Brazil, Episode 2 of Stone Summit invited buyers from american companies to compose the team of guests. The goal was to expose opportunities and gaps, in addition to detecting possible weaknesses in the sector in Brazil when meeting the needs of the American market. The four guests were unanimous in praising the diversity of brazilian stones – the beauty and variety of the product mix – however, they emphasized the need to add value to materials through marketing strategies and qualification of sellers.

Episode 3

Challenges and opportunities for the national market

In August, a month that traditionally hosts the event that is reference for the national market in the industry – Cachoeiro Stone Fair, a trade fair held for more than 30 years in the south of Espírito Santo – the third episode of Stone Summit discussed the challenges and opportunities of the domestic market. To celebrate the city’s relevance to the sector, and also the period of the fair, Stone Summit was broadcast live directly from Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, in a space provided by Magban. 

Episode 4

The natural stone value chain

Seeking to foster a dialogue on the possibilities opened by the development of a collaborative and strategic commercial policy, focusing on the evolution of all players in the natural stone market, Episode 4 of Stone Summit brought the natural stone value chain as its theme. The team of guest speakers was composed by professionals who work in various stages of the extraction, processing and marketing of natural stones, and who have made a difference when it comes to digital selling and creating strategic processes for the evolution of their businesses and the natural stone industry as a whole.

Episode 5

The strength of natural stone in architecture

To encourage dialogue between the stone sector and specifiers and, consequently, increase the demand for Brazilian natural stones locally, the last episode of the season addressed opportunities for the industry in architecture, highlighting the advantages and benefits of choosing the natural product. The guests spoke about ways to add value and knowledge to the relationship between the stone sector and specifiers, pointing out ways and possibilities to seek, once again, the valorization of brazilian natural stones.

The Natural Stone Market in Brazil

Transparency, listening to the client and the exchange of knowledge among companies. These seem to be the tools which are driving the brazilian natural stone market to reach positive results in 2020 so far, even during a pandemic. On september the 30th, during a session organized by Milanez & Milaneze at the Marmomac Restart Digital, a couple of entrepreneurs met to discuss the measures developed since the beginning of the Covid-19 crisis, and how these actions had an impact on commercial results. The topics brought to the table explain why, even on such difficult times, the natural stone market in Brazil was able to succeed, with stable numbers and minimal losses during the first half of the year.
